Taking Care of Your Museum Quality Giclee
When thinking of framing your new Giclee (a printed reproduction on archival paper of a drypoint, etching, gouache, oil, pastel, pencil, watercolor or woodcut image) your artwork should be mounted on archival mat board. The Zucco Fine Art Gallery recommends using mat board and backer boards which possess archival properties because these products offer the necessary protection to effectively shield your art against pollutants and acid by-products that fade, discolor and damage artwork.
As with anything of fine quality and rich color, to preserve your print, it is also suggested your artwork be kept out of direct sunlight or very bright light. The use of UV blocking glass is recommended to help to protect your work of art from the sun’s harmful rays and fading.
